FP - printwork log 22/11/2016
Today we received the photos from the Kensington shoot (shot on 35mm film), that I took to be processed. Whereas before we only had digital re-creations of the shots we had managed to shoot on film, we are now able to view the actual photos that we are likely to use for our print work. This means that we can actually begin to make productive progress with our print products. To begin with, we plan to create a shortlist of photos that we would like to use for the album artwork and magazine advertisement. Once selected we can begin to arrange, edit and finalize these images to render them usable for the final products.
Below are a few examples of pictures from the batch received today.

FP - Edit refelction 21/11/2016
During today's lesson, due to the fact that we needed to get more of our footage on the timeline, we selected the best shots from those we filmed in the supermarket in Notting Hill.
Once on the timeline, we decided the point at which we wanted to use these shots in the song and began to cut, re-order and change the speed of them.
The addition of these shots led to significant progression with our video, while adding more shots that fit the profile of those we were advised to use more of during the feedback from our rough cut.

Group - Music Video Animatic
- Both Frankie and I shared the tasks of drawing out the frames for our animatic. Once drawn, the frames were scanned into a computer, placed onto a timeline on DaVinci Resolve, edited and accompanied by a section of our chosen song
- The actual drawing of the frames did not present a huge challenge as we both had a clear idea of the content of the shots we aimed to shoot and the order in which they would be placed to form the narrative.
- However, where the challenge manifested itself was within the range of camera techniques and movements that we would choose to employ. This was due to the fact that we had chosen to take a more spontaneous and varied approach to the actual operation of the camera as it suited the spontaneous nature of our video and those we had drawn inspiration from. Therefore we decided to plan a range of movements, such as horizontal tracking and following shots, that we would definitely include in our video, and applied them to some of the frames in our animatic.
- With regards to Both of our AS animatics from last year, this animatic included a wider range of frames that were drawn with more attention to framing and detail rather than just content. Also, due to the fact that we were shooting a horror opening for AS, we could not be completely sure of the audio, titles etc. that would accompany the footage until shooting/editing was completed. This year, however, because we are shooting a music video, the ability to add the audio of the song to the animatic gives a clearer idea of what the end product will look like and how it fits with our framing and camera movement.

Group - Rough Cut feedback
During the lesson on 11/10/16, the class came together to view a rough cut of what each group had achieved with their music video so far.
After the viewing of our rough cut, the feedback that we were able to take away from both teachers and classmates is as follows:
- The comedic nature of our video that we had aimed to convey translates well and forms a clear part of the framework of the project.
- The slow-motion footage, combined with the close-up shots of the artist's face/lip-syncing etc. along with the abstract guitar playing also work well and do not contradict each other as we feared could have been a possibility before we had begun editing.
- However, one suggestion was that, while the close-ups of the artist and the 'playing up for the camera' nature of the shots that form the majority of our video so far seem to work well, what we need is a variety of shot styles, predominantly including more of the shots where the artist acts in a more 'candid' manner and does not seem to be addressing the camera directly. Fortunately, some of our unused footage from the Kensington shoot fits this profile of shot, and we hope to be able to use some of this footage to broaden the shot variety in our music video.

FS- Rough cut update
In our rough cut currently, we've tidied up some of the cuts between shots and started on the intro part to our song. during our shooting of this section, the two shots that were meant to be together. one of the shots was slightly over exposed so we had to colour grade one to make them fit together properly. however the lighting in the windows of the car was different so we needed to put a short black screen in between.

FS- Lesson log: 1/11/2016
- In today's lesson we started the editing aspect of our video in DaVinci, after we placed the files in the media pool we put the track on the timeline.
- We then, selective our opening shot, a tracking shot of our main character (me) playing guitar.
- After placing this on the timeline we had to change the clip speed down to 50 percent, also selecting the ripple tool.
- We repeated this for several shots, also selecting where necessary cuts on the beat.

FP - Lesson log: 01/11/16
- In today's lesson we began by collecting all of the footage from the shoot in Kensington over half term and storing it on a folder in the D drive on the school computer.
- Next I took the audio file of our chosen song and used audacity to convert it to a suitable format for DaVinci resolve.
- We placed the audio file in a DaVinci project along with all of clips from our Kensington shoot.
